'Pride of Fort Worth' musician Leon Bridges woos and wows on 'Today' show

Leon Bridges was compared to Sam Cooke and fawned over by Hoda Kotb and Jenna Bush during an appearance on Today this morning.

He even sang homegirl Tamryn Hall -- she's from Arlington -- into the break. No music needed. Like they said, "he sounds as timeless as he looks."

Willie, which is where the Cooke reference rode in, introduced him as "the pride of Fort Worth, Texas." Bridges continues to rack up accolades, after performing on Saturday Night Live, writing "So Long" for the movie Concussion and a Grammy nomination for best R&B album.

He performed a stark "River" from Coming Home after the short chat. Kotb and Bush, who was filling in for Kathie Lee Gifford in the late hour of the show, even came over to meet him. That's when you know you're giving it to 'em. According to Al Roker, "They never show up."
