ABC's The Bachelor returned Jan. 4, kicking off season 20 with a predictably painful series of introductions between bachelor Ben Higgins and 28 women from around North America.

Higgins, a native of Warsaw, Indiana, competed for Kaitlyn Bristowe's love on the last season of The Bachelorette. Monday night, the 26-year-old, who despite his looks seemed uncomfortably insecure, met a slew of gorgeous women. And in true Bachelor style, they offered some of the most ridiculous first impressions reality TV viewers could ask for.

Four Texas women made an appearance on the premiere, one playing to the Lone Star State's western stereotype. Meagan, a beer-drinkin', trail-ridin' cowgirl from Weatherford, didn't show up in a limousine, but rather walking with her mini horse Huey.

Dallas house flipper Joelle (JoJo) jumped out of the car in a unicorn mask ... because she's looking to find a unicorn in Higgins, obviously. (The move was even more laughable when during a live post-show discussion, screenwriter Diablo Cody defined unicorn as a "bisexual women who's willing to sleep with a couple no strings attached.")

Houston resident Lauren R. showed up to the mansion with her introduction so rehearsed, she forgot to mention her name, while Olivia, a former news anchor out of Austin, was so nervous she resorted to saying, "You're so tall." That didn't work against her, however; after a chat with Higgins about how she "left something good" (her job), "to find something great" (love), he awarded her the first impression rose. Cue jealous stares.

Meet the Texans below:

The series' first cocktail party seemingly housed turns around every corner. In addition to cringe-worthy moments (like when Portland dentist Mandi decided to check Higgins for cavities) and the token belligerently drunk girl (Denver real estate agent Lace), a couple of show veterans returned for round two. Becca and Amber, both from Chris Soules season, were tossed into the mix, much to the chagrin of Bachelor noobs.

Oh and did I mention the twins?

A pair of twins named Emily and Haley are currently both seeking to date Higgins, because that's not weird at all.

Ultimately six women were sent home, including Texans Lauren R. and Meagan (and her tiny horse). Rest assured, Higgins kept both drunk girl Lace and Portland weirdo Mandi, so grab your popcorn and meet us here next week -- it's going to be a wild season.
