First trailer for Marvel's 'Jessica Jones' is dark, depressing and everything we wanted

The long-awaited first trailer for Marvel's Jessica Jones hit the web this morning, and it is, well, really depressing.

The new series stars Krysten Ritter as the titular Jessica Jones, a now-retired superhero heading up an investigations department in Hell's Kitchen. Jones, who used to go by the alter ego Jewel, can fly, has super strength and is just an overall badass.

The show also stars Mike Colter as Luke Cage and David Tennant as Zebediah Kilgrave, known by most as the devious Purple Man (originally part of Daredevil's rogue gallery.)

Created in 2001 by famed comic scribe Brian Michael Bendis, this Netflix series looks to be a close take on the dark world Bendis built, going into detail on the Purple Man's relationship with Jones and how he used his mind control powers to control her.

He's not a very nice guy, and that's putting it lightly.

This show is the second in Marvel's deal with Netflix, following Daredevil. Still on the docket is season two of Daredevil, a new series based on Luke Cage, Iron Fist, and a crossover series titled The Defenders.

Jessica Jones premieres Nov. 20 on Netflix with all episodes dropping at once.
