Angela Robinson went from calm and measured to full-on Evil Queen last season on Tyler Perry's the Haves and the Have Nots.

She plays Veronica Harrington on the show, which opens its third season Tuesday.

When last we saw Veronica, she was on the steps of her Savannah mansion after starting a blaze in the bedroom where her husband was asleep. This season is literally setting up to be fi-yah.

"[Tyler Perry] came to me," she says by phone before she came to Dallas this past Saturday for Cheryl Smith's 21st annual Don't Believe the Hype Celebrity Bowl-a-thon. "He said, 'I think it's a good time to see the real Veronica, to see her at home without all the layers.' Who would she be in this moment ... when being in control is the most important thing in her life?"

Robinson agreed that an out-of-control and vulnerable Veronica would be "broken," which meant sobriety and her wig would have to go in those fiery scenes.

"Don't come to a black woman about taking her hair off," she joked. She can laugh because she knows how it all turns out.

"We have totally finished this season and next season," she explains. "We're done for a while and it makes me sad. I love the cast and Mr. Perry and I'll miss them.

"But I'm also excited that you guys are going to see some exciting things."
