The Janmastami festival commemorates the earthly appearance of Krishna, who is described in India’s sacred writings as God Himself. It is one of the largest religious festivals in the world and will be celebrated at the Hare Krishna Temple in East Dallas.
The temple room will be lavishly decorated with garlands of flowers. A complimentary multi-course vegetarian meal will be served and there will be singing and readings. Activities in the park include A Taste of Krsna food festival, face painting and other fun activities for children. The festivities culminate in the temple room as devotees await the stroke of midnight to cheer the exact moment of Krishna’s appearance. The event is free and open to the public.
