The inaugural Festival of Joy drew thousands of families, young adults and dignitaries, who all experienced the colors, food, music and interactive cultural exhibits. The 2019 Festival promises to be bigger and bolder as it will be the kick-off for the Dallas Mayor’s Cultural Month. The past favorites will return, while we extend the program time. The event will begin at 11 AM with a parade through the Arts District and return to Klyde Warren Park for festivities that will continue until 6 PM. The festival is non-sectarian, open to the public and free for everyone. Free and concessional parking has been arranged on a first-come basis.

The Festival of Joy – also celebrated as the Festival of Chariots, or Ratha Yatra – has its roots in ancient India and the bhakti tradition and is celebrated in major cities all across the world. Activities will include Indian themed face-painting, yoga in the park, the chance to try on saris and turbans, Henna painting and authentically Indian foods.
