A Memorial Day weekend tradition for 50-plus years, the Polka Festival is a three-day celebration of Czech heritage in Ennis, about 35 miles south of Dallas. Get ready to dance with more than a dozen polka bands set to play. A Saturday morning parade kicks off a street fair with arts and crafts, festival food, a beer pavilion and plenty of activities for children to enjoy. The weekend also includes a kolache-eating contest, King and Queen dance contest, and a country concert by Parker McCollum and special guest the Vandoliers.
Downtown activities are free. There is an admission charge for events at participating halls (Sokol, KC and KJT).
