Blitzen Trapper / Liz Cooper and the Stampede at Three Links
Thor Christensen Recommends
Blitzen Trapper got lumped in with the indie-folk crowd after it came to fame 10 years ago. But the Oregon quintet has always been too eclectic for any one genre. In early 2017, lead singer-songwriter Eric Earley and company launched their first stage production, Wild and Reckless, a dystopian rock opera about love, drugs and family set in Portland’s past. In November, the group turned the piece into an eclectic album ranging from the ‘70s-style power-pop of “Dance With Me” to “Joanna,” which sounds like Nebraska-era Springsteen. Expect to hear most of Wild and Reckless, along with past hits like “Love the Way You Walk Away” and a maybe even a cover or two of the Beatles or Neil Young. Opening the show is the Nashville trio Liz Cooper & the Stampede.
