Justin Timberlake

Thor Christensen Recommends

Performing “I Would Die 4 U” next to projected footage of Prince at the Super Bowl probably wasn’t the smartest move for Justin Timberlake: As a singer and songwriter, he pales next to the Purple One and other R&B artists he emulates. Still, it’s hard not to like the funky white Mouseketeer with super-suave dance moves and artistic ambitions. On his fifth solo album, Man of the Woods, and on his current concert tour, the amiable 37-year-old singer dares to dabble in country, folk and blues songs — not exactly sure-fire crowd-pleasers for fans who might rather hear him croon ‘N Sync oldies. Not to worry, though: While JT is likely to perform the bulk of Man of the Woods, he’ll spend almost as much time doling out hits from his 2006 smash FutureSex/LoveSounds. Opening the show is the Atlanta vocal-pop group the Shadowboxers.

Tickets for May 27 show are sold out.
