The theme for this year's parade is "A Day On - Not a Day Off," reflecting the service aspect associated with MLK Day. A variety of student and civic groups will participate in the parade which will feature floats, marching bands, decorated vehicles and more. The march begins at the Liberty Bell on City Hall Plaza and ends at David Daniels Elementary Academy of Science and Math. The event is sponsored by Grand Prairie ISD, the City of Grand Prairie and the Grand Prairie NAACP.

Following the parade will be a celebration at Dalworth Recreation Center (2012 Spkes St., Grand Prairie). At 1:30 p.m., all are invited to join the Keep America Beautiful Youth Advisory Council and the Daniels Elementary Green Team in planting 10 trees and designating a "tree trail" at the school.
