Texas Gov. Greg Abbott will serve as Honorary Parade Grand Marshall in this event celebrating the 88th anniversary of the birth of Civil Rights icon Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. The parade will wind through Arlington's entertainment district - from AT&T Stadium to Six Flags - featuring marching bands, floats, riders on horseback, car clubs, elected officials and more. Special guests include gospel singer Fred Hammond performing on the MLK birthday float, actor Laz Alonso (Fast & Furious) on the Toyota float, Miss D and the Dancing Dolls (from Lifetime's Bring It!), Chicago's South Shore Drill Team, and the Southern University "Human Jukebox" Marching Band.

Parade Route: The 0.8 mile parade route steps off at 10 a.m. outside AT&T Stadium (AT&T Way at Cowboys Way), proceeds north to Randol Mill Road, north on Ballpark Way and ending on the Road to Six Flags.

Satellite events are planned prior to the parade including:
MLK Advancing the Dream Awards Banquet on Jan. 12 at the University of Texas at Arlington's E.H. Hereford Center.
Battle of the Bands hosted by Southern University Marching Band on Jan. 14 at the Ellis Davis Fieldhouse in Dallas.
MLK Scholarship Breakfast hosted by the Nu Pi Lambda Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Inc. with special guest Laz Alonso.
