Literary arts group WordSpace has evolved its one-day Deep Ellum Lit Hop to a monthlong citywide celebration that will honor literature in several forms. The April 7 Kick-Off Party will include performances by spoken-word artists; dancers; experimental theater group Dead White Zombies; and MC 900 Ft. Jesus and Decadent Dub Team, as well as other musicians. Dallas Lit Hop will continue through April 29, when author Walter Mosley will speak at the Kessler Theater. Other events include a literary pub crawl, a filmmakers’ showcase, a poetry slam and Writers’ League of Texas’ One Page Salon.

Dallas-based literary nonprofit WordSpace is hosting Dallas Lit Hop, a month-long event featuring spoken word, theater, musical performances, readings, film programs and more. To kick off the month is a party featuring Mark Griffin, also known as MC 900 Ft. Jesus, as well as appearances by spoken word performers and local experimental theater company Dead White Zombies. Beer, cocktails and food trucks will be available.
