Breaking onto the scene with a considerable bang in 2004, the Killers offered an accessible and highly danceable blend of electronic pop and new wave-inspired post-punk with their debut record Hot Fuss. But instead of rehashing that commercially viable formula, the Brandon Flowers-led outfit channeled their inner-Springsteen for Sam’s Town, a more guitar-driven American anthem sound and vision. On the albums since, including last year’s well-received Wonderful Wonderful, the Killers have woven a number of sonic textures into their tapestry, with the one unifying thread always being a deft touch for larger-than-life, fist-pumping choruses that sound dynamite in any style.
