This event has already happened

A Highland Park tradition first started in 1927, the "Big Pecan Tree" on Armstrong Parkway, just west of Preston Road, will light up for the holidays with 5,000 multi-colored lights. The fun starts at 6 p.m. with a live reindeer, face painting, Christmas treats and a photobus.

At 7 p.m. the mayor will flip the switch and the Highland Park High School Lads and Lassies will sing Christmas carols. Santa, through special arrangement with the Highland Park Department of Public Safety, will arrive on a big red fire truck.
