This event has already happened

Join the DMA for a evening exploring Islamic art and culture in honor of the DMA’s Keir Collection of Islamic Art. From talks to music performances to artist demonstrations, learn more about Islamic art and the influence it has had across cultures. The November Late Night is part of the free, three-day, Islamic Art Festival: The Language of Exchange.

7 p.m. -- Late Night Talk: Highlights from the Keir Collection -- Explore the most recent installation of the Keir Collection of Islamic Art with the DMA's Senior Advisor for Islamic Art, Dr. Sabiha Al Khemir. Al Khemir will discuss just a few of the 150 objects on view and what they tell us about the rich history of Islamic art.

8-10:30 p.m. -- Pop-Up Art Spot: Looking for a hands-on experience in the DMA galleries? Visit the Pop-Up Art Spot and experience art in a new way. Learn how the repetition and overlapping of simple shapes creates intricate designs and patterns and explore the cross-cultural connections in works of art from the Keir Collection.

8 p.m. -- Late Night Main Stage: Inspired by traditions of India, Persia, Central Asia, Middle East, and Turkey, experience traditional folkloric dances performed by the Nomad Dancers.

9:30 and 11 p.m. -- Performances in the Galleries: Enjoy music on the sitar and table performed by the Sangeet Millennium Duet featuring Amie Maciszewski and Shantanu Bhattacharya.

Admission is $10, $5 for students with ID, free for children 11 and younger. Some exhibitions require an additional $10 ticket to enter.
