Ever since the sad demise of Uncle Tupelo, Jay Farrar has succeeded on the fringes of alternative country, and that’s probably exactly where he should be. Painfully dry and unpretentious, Farrar lets his songs do the talking. Whether as a solo artist or as the leader of Son Volt, Farrar has produced a plethora of great music. His morose baritone fits the stark subject matter of his songs like dust blowing across a Midwest sky. Farrar, joined by guitarist Gary Hunt, will likely reach deep into his bountiful songbook and delight those in attendance with tales of lovers and losers.

As a founder of alternative country pioneers Uncle Tupelo, a solo artist, and as the leader of Son Volt, Jay Farrar’s work often seeks out the ghosts of America's discordant or forgotten past, converses at length with them, and writes songs that stake a claim to a better future. Most recently, Farrar has added the Son Volt album, "Notes of Blue," to his long list of critically acclaimed albums.
