The brilliance of the Moody Blues has long been overlooked. For years, the fussy Rock & Roll Hall of Fame snubbed the British rock band, and while it’s finally agreed to induct the Moodies in April, the move comes a tad too late for founding member Ray Thomas, who died earlier this month. Likewise, Rolling Stone lit into the group’s album Days of Future Passed when it came out in 1967, dismissing some of its songs as “crap.” Today, the album is hailed as a progressive-rock masterpiece for its blend of psychedelic rock, classical music and pop songcraft in “Nights in White Satin” and “Tuesday Afternoon.” The group — including longtime singers Justin Hayward and John Lodge and drummer Graeme Edge — is performing Days of Future Passed in its entirety on its current tour, along with ‘70s and ‘80s hits like “Question” and “The Voice.”
