Ten years after reuniting, the Toadies sound as fierce as ever on The Lower Side of Uptown, their hard-rocking follow-up to 2015’s mostly acoustic Heretics. Frontman Vaden Todd Lewis jump-starts the single “Broke Down Stupid” with a distorted guitar riff cut from the same cloth as “Possum Kingdom,” the band’s 1994 classic about “dark secrets” at the sinuous lake in Palo Pinto County. Fittingly, Possum Kingdom Lake is the site of the group’s 10th annual Dia De Los Toadies festival, which has jumped around Texas over the years. In addition to the Toadies, the daylong event features Local H, Riverboat Gamblers, the O’s, Oil Boom, Baboon, Quiet Company and Ting Tang Tina, a new band that includes Lewis’ teen daughter Ruby.

The Toadies headline the 10th annual music festival. This year, the band returns to Possum Kingdom, site of the first Dia de Los Toadies fest in 2008. The event will feature 2 stages and 9 bands, including alt-rock group Local H, Riverboat Gamblers, The O's, Oil Boom, Quiet Company, Baboon and Ting Tang Tina.
