The success of Malpaso Dance Company exemplifies the cultural changes underway in Cuba. Founded in 2012 by two performers who broke away from the country’s leading modern company, Malpaso comes to Dallas amid its third tour of the U.S. The repertoire includes works by artistic director Osnel Delgado and such name-brand choreographers as Trey McIntyre, Ronald K. Brown and Canada’s Aszure Barton. Presented by TITAS, the troupe will perform pieces commissioned from Barton (Indomitable Waltz) and Brown (Why We Follow), along with McIntyre’s Bad Winter. Malpaso’s flowing style is marked by Afro-Caribbean sensuality, hip-hop and jazz. --Manuel Mendoza
