Ennis’ National Polka Festival is about 100 days away, and this weekend’s celebration of authentic Czech music is a chance to perfect those dance steps and try out that kroj (costume). There’ll be plenty of polka on Feb. 10 from the Moravians, Ennis Czech Boys, Czech Harvesters, Jodie Mikula Orchestra and Czech and Then Some; plus, Texas Folk Life’s Big Squeeze youth accordion contest will bring some new flavors. Musicians 21 and younger will perform zydeco, conjunto, Tejano and Cajun, in addition to polka. On Feb. 9, Out of the Box will perform during a free pre-party.

Ennis Czech Music Festival, held annually the weekend after the Super Bowl, features Czech polka bands and dancing and a children's zone. The kitchen will be open serving Czech classics and a chicken-fried steak dinner. Dress casual or wear your Czech costume. $8 per person, free for children ages 12 and younger. Doors open at noon.
