Zac Brown Band / Darrell Scott / Caroline Jones at Starplex Pavilion

In the glossy world of mainstream country music, the Zac Brown Band’s decade of major success is an offbeat, chameleonic tale. Beginning as a rootsy throwback with songs like “Chicken Fried,” “Free” and “Whatever It Is,” the Georgia-born band established itself as a latter-day Charlie Daniels Band before experimenting with its sound. The Grammy-winning 2013 album Uncaged featured a bit of genre-hopping including some reggae flourishes, while 2015’s appropriately named Jekyll+ Hyde featured some electronic touches and even introduced the primal scream of Soungarden’s late Chris Cornell to the family-safe country airwaves via “Heavy Is the Head.” But the band is back in its warm, comfy traditional-country environs with Welcome Home, yet another properly titled record.
