This event has already happened

Join the Wild Earth Action Team to help save birds as we participate in the annual Christmas Bird Count, Saturday, Dec. 17 from 1:30–3:30 p.m. Christmas Bird Count is the oldest citizen science initiative in the world with tens of thousands of people participating in over 2,000 counts across the hemisphere. We will count native birds on the Dallas Zoo campus from 1:30–3:30 pm. Birders of all ages and skill levels are welcome and pre-registration is required. (Binoculars are useful for this event).

The Dallas Count Circle was established in 1954 and last year participants counted 109 bird species in the full circle. Each count circle is 15 miles in diameter and divided into multiple zones. Our count (Zone 10) will provide important information on the status and population trends of resident and migratory birds in Dallas. Participants will learn about how to help save birds in Dallas and how bird populations have changed over time.
