Kurt Vile and the Violators at Trees
Brentney Hamilton Recommends
If you’re the type who only likes underground acts, now’s the time to get into Kurt Vile. This indie folk rocker has been a ‘constant hitmaker’ for almost a decade – at least that’s what he named his debut studio album in 2008 – but, many of those eclectic, guitar-driven tracks have gone un-played over the airwaves. That’s changed in 2016, when his infection new album’s opener, “Pretty Pimpin’” garnered his first Billboard number one in March. Touring in support of 2015’s b’lieve I’m goin down… Vile makes music like the love child of Bob Dylan and Neil Young with lyrics inspired by Plato, Sartre and Bruce Springsteen.
