You’ve never experienced Christmas like this! Soul Rep Theatre, currently the resident theater company at the South Dallas Cultural Center, will resume its 10/20 Anniversary season with Naughty, But Nice, an original Christmas cabaret developed by members of the company’s writing consortium. The first iteration of this unique piece debuted in Soul Rep’s previous season and proved to be a well received and refreshing offering for the holiday season.

This year’s production has been refined and under the direction of company member and resident choreographer, La-Hunter Smith, will blossom into what Soul Rep hopes to be an annual Christmas treat for Dallas audiences. Set in a ficticious contemporary South Dallas “hole in the wall” called The Yellow Rose Lounge and Grill Naughty, But Nice features a colorful cast of characters enjoying the lounge’s grand re-opening on Christmas Eve, after the popular night spot nearly becomes a casualty of gentrification. The production is filled with Christmas classics with a twist, down home holiday blues songs, and be-bopping jazzy yuletide riffs performed by a vibrant group of area actors and singers that include Chimberly Carter-Byrom, Douglas Carter, Kyndal Robertson, J.R. Bradford, Kevin Brooks, Brittney DuBose, Mandi Green, Jason Hallman, Demoriea Holloway, and Dick Zinnendorf. The production will also feature a dynamic trio of musicians and arrangers, Dallas’ own Linny Nance, Brent Nance, and DeMarcus Bean.

The production is appropriate for adults. Performances will take place on Fridays and Saturdays at 8 PM and Sundays at 3 PM.
