Stevie Nicks / The Pretenders at American Airlines Center
Thor Christensen Recommends
As one of rock’s top-selling bands, Fleetwood Mac always takes precedence over Stevie Nicks’ solo career. So when the Big Mac launched a tour in late-‘14, Nicks couldn’t promote 24 Karat Gold: Songs from the Vault, her then-new solo disc featuring tunes that never made it on to Mac albums. Two years later, she’s finally getting the chance to sing Karat songs like “The Dealer” (written for 1979’s Tusk) alongside “Dreams,” “Stop Draggin’ My Heart Around” and 1983’s “Stand Back,” which Nicks dedicates to Prince, who inspired the song. Chrissie Hynde and the Pretenders open the show with a mix of classics and tunes from Alone: Produced by Dan Auerbach of the Black Keys, it’s the first Pretenders disc in eight years.
