THE THREEPENNY OPERA is a comically dark, gothic and enjoyably boisterous look at old London. As the city prepares for a coronation, the police double their efforts to clean up the slums, and are willing to cut corners to do so. However, complications arise when career criminal Mack the Knife returns to town and a local family’s daughter disappears. With a stellar cast lead by Oliver Award-winner Rory Kinnear (HAMLET, OTHELLO), and adapted by Simon Stephens (THE CURIOUS INCIDENT OF THE DOG IN THE NIGHT-TIME), this self-proclaimed “opera for beggars” holds no reservations in its raunchy and explicit content.
