Kim Oglethorpe Recommends

Are you thinking about dressing your dog up for Halloween? You might be able to get some great costume ideas at this festival's canine couture fashion show. Or maybe you already have your pup's costume all figured out and can't wait until Oct. 31 -- if so, here's your chance to show it off early. There are plenty of other contests if your furry best friend has a special talent, such as singing or dancing or a really cool trick. In any case, whether you're feeling competitive or just want to spend a fun day out with your pooch, this free festival is a worthwhile destination.

It's all about dogs at this celebration which features a canine couture fashion show, pet tricks, singing dog contest, live entertainment, demos by dogs and their trainers, "Glamfur" photos, agility course, arts and craft vendors, festival foods and more. Formerly known as the Dog Days of Summer, the festival is in its 22nd year. Admission is free; some activities require a fee.
