Scott A. Eckert's follow-up to his 2009 musical hit, Death: The Musical, opens Aug. 26 and runs through Sept. 24.

This time, there's a killer on the loose, and no one in the trailer park is safe. It's 1982 in Egypt Okla., and a series of "accidental" deaths catches the eye of a detective from England (Charles E. Moore). He teams up with the local sheriff (Tony Martin) and deputy (Michael Speck) to get to the bottom of things. In the process, he comes to know and care for the citizens of this otherwise peaceful country town. For the music, Eckert is joined by fellow songwriters Sonny Franks, Willy Welch and Jimmy Barcus to create southern country rock score guaranteed to keep your toes tapping and a mystery to keep you on the edge of your seat.

Eckert is a playwright, composer and music director with 30 years of experience and 100+ productions in the D-FW area. Like so many others, he got his start right here at the Pocket Sandwich Theatre. His Death: The Musical premiered in 2009 at The Pocket and was the winner of the DFW Theater Critics Ward and Column Award for best new play. With its "melodies bright and fast... lyrics wickedly witty" (The Dallas Observer), it "provided a dandy showcase for his clever lyrics and twisted sense of humor" (The Dallas Voice).
