If you love dogs, you'll love Dog Day Afternoon. This fun-for-the-whole-family event is a great way to let your pooch get his wiggles out while he meets a few hundred new friends. Fido can even get a bite of a giant dog cake weighing more than 170 pounds total. (They're trying for a world record. Wish 'em luck!)
Gather your furry friends and come out to Operation Kindness’ Dog Day Afternoon, the largest festival in Dallas celebrating dogs and the people who love them. This year, Operation Kindness will celebrate its 40th anniversary at the free event at Flag Pole Hill near White Rock Lake.
A highlight of the day will by an attempt to set a new world record for the world’s largest dog cake. Sponsored by Blue Buffalo, Catering by Larry will bake a dog friendly cake that will weigh in at more than 170 pounds. Canine guests will receive a complimentary piece of cake, with the first 100 dogs receiving their cake in a commemorative Blue Buffalo dog bowl.
Sponsored by Pet Supplies Plus, Dog Day Afternoon will be held rain or shine. Admission and parking are free. Highlights include:
Mutt Midway with dozens of vendors selling a wide variety of pet-related merchandise, puppy kissing booth and games with prizes
Canine contests for trophies and prizes including: Best Costume, Stupid Pet Tricks and Best Pooch Smooch, sponsored by Natural Balance Pet Foods
