Be sure to print out tickets in advance to get free admission before 7 p.m., then take advantage of the free shuttle to the fairgrounds from Vista Ridge Village Shopping Center parking lot and two DCTA stations. The festival has the standard attractions -- vendor booths, fair food, a children's fun zone and performances -- but many attend for the headliner concerts. This year's lineup includes two bands with North Texas ties but world-wide acclaim: Eli Young Band on Friday and Old 97's on Saturday.

The Eli Young Band (9/23) and The Old 97’s (9/24) are musical headliners for the annual Western Days festival in Old Town Lewisville. The two-day heritage fest features three stages of live music, Saturday morning parade, World Tamale Eating Championship, food and craft vendors. This year's event has an expanded Western Village featuring the Ghost Horse Native American Dancers, Legends of Texas gunfighters, mechanical bull attraction, a working Old West jail for photo ops and blacksmith demos. The Kid Kountry Playground offers children's rides and games.

Free tickets will be available for pick-up or download (in August). Present at the gate for free admission before 7 p.m. each day. After 7 p.m., admission is $10 (no charge for children 10 and under).
