On the Naughty List this holiday season? Then, take a walk on the wild side during this darkly fun alternative to jolly ol’ Saint Nick and his cheerful cadre of elves and angels. Organized by the Krampus Society — oh, you didn’t know that exists in North Texas? — this annual event features revelers dressed as the Central European folk character, Krampus, a “half-goat, half-demon,” according to National Geographic. What does that have to do with Christmas? Despite his chilling appearance, Krampus is actually one of Santa’s reliable helpers who does the dirty work. Hey, somebody has to swat the bottoms of the wicked, and that’s obviously off-brand for Mr. Claus. Folks dress in freaky masks with devilish horns and parade through the streets with bells and switches.

You better watch out and you better not cry. Krampus is coming to town. Santa's ultimate helper, and keeper of the naughty list, pays a visit to the streets of Deep Ellum following the time honored tradition found in many Bavarian cities on the eve of St. Nicholas Day. Festivities begin at 8 p.m. at the Nines and continue through the streets of Deep Ellum until the Krampus is satisfied. Presented by Krampus Society.
