Pumpkin Carving Party at Old Monk
Sara Frederick Burgos Recommends
Do you still love carving jack-o-lanterns, like you did as a kid?(Hopefully your artistic skills have improved since then.) This Knox-Henderson area pub offers you a chance to carve pumpkins among friends — and beer. For $10, you get a pint, pumpkin and carving tools. All proceeds go to North Texas Food Bank, and the Monk matches each dollar. In 2014, more than $14,000 went to the food bank. Photos of all pumpkins carved will be posted on the Old Monk’s Facebook page. Gift-card prizes go to the carvers of the three best pumpkins; first place gets $75, second gets $50 and third gets $25.
