This sprawling festival organized by Bishop T.D. Jakes delivers inspirational entertainment with spiritual leaders and celebrities from music, film, television, comedy and more. Events include a comedy show hosted by Sheryl Underwood on Aug. 20 at 8 p.m.; an International Faith and Family Film Festival with screenings, panel discussions and breakout sessions; a performance of Tyler Perry’s Madea on the Run on Aug. 21 at 7:30 p.m.; a choir competition; a dance conference; children’s events; an expo area and more.

The sprawling MegaFest, organized by Bishop T.D. Jakes, delivers inspirational entertainment with spiritual leaders and celebrities from music, film, television, comedy and more. More than 80,000 attendees from about two dozen countries are expected to converge on Dallas for the festival, last held here in 2013. The fun begins Wednesday with a golf tournament and officially kicks off Thursday at 11 a.m. with a rally at Klyde Warren Park. While the event emphasizes spiritual events and speakers, it also offers a whole lineup of entertainment. Events include a comedy show hosted by Sheryl Underwood on Thursday at 8 p.m., an International Faith and Family Film Festival, a performance of Tyler Perry's Madea on the Run on Friday at 7:30 p.m., a choir competition, a dance conference, children's events, an expo area and more. Most events are at the Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center. $60 for adults, $35 for ages 5-18, $205 VIP seating. Some events, including Madea and the comedy show, are sold separately.
