North Texas Comic Book Show at Doubletree Hotel
Sara Frederick Burgos Recommends
This comic convention has steadily grown over the past few years, doubling both in size and length. Though smaller than the Dallas Comic Con, it has a more intimate feel, with comic book fans returning year after year and developing friendships over time. This year has a particularly good lineup: among the special guests are James O'Barr, creator of The Crow, and Deathlok creator Rich Buckler.
North Texas Comic Book Shows kicks off the comic con season in Dallas with a two day event featuring artists and writers that helped shaped the comic industry, plus more than 60 dealers of comics, toys and comic collectibles. Come to browse, buy or sell. Cosplay contest at 2 pm on Saturday will offer a $100 top prize.
Special guests include RICH BUCKLER, creator of DEATHLOK; JOE RUBINSTEIN, inker on the original WOLVERINE 4 part mini-series; MARK MORALES, noted inker on titles ranging from the AVENGERS to X-FORCE; BEN DUNN, the Godfather of American Manga; and JAMES O' BARR, creator of THE CROW.
Admission is $10 at the door, free for kids 11 and younger.
