Grub Burger Bar will open its second North Texas location at the intersection of Highway 121 and Preston Rd. Thursday, with a grand opening ceremony and, yes, free burgers for the first 150 in line at 11 a.m.

Until this week, the national fast-casual chain maintained a sole local outpost on the bottom floor of the Reeder Energy Building on Greenville Ave. in Dallas.

Grub Burger Bar serves cheffed up burgers like the "Lockhart Legend" -- that's a burger topped with Applewood smoked bacon, cheddar, house made Dr Pepper barbecue sauce, onion rings and dill pickles -- or the "Thai Peanut" with creamy peanut butter, roasted peanuts, cilantro lime coconut flakes and Sambal mayo.

It also boasts a serious selection of non-meat burgers, plus gluten-free buns, salads, snacks and sides whether you're looking for a hearty bowl of chili or something on the leafier side. That's not to mention shakes (spiked and virgin), margaritas and cocktails, wine and a very respectable beer list with heavy-duty local craft favorites.

The new Plano space features a patio with "natural wood, steel and glass," a release says. It will have a full bar with happy hour drink specials and online ordering for take-out.
