Usually a story that begins with, "A guy walks into the middle of a busy freeway..." doesn't end well. But in the case of Houston resident Vidal Valladares Navas, it ended with a #shesaidyes.
According to the Houston Chronicle, Navas and his family stopped traffic on Interstate 45 earlier this week so he could propose to girlfriend Michelle Wycoff. The groom to be said they were going to a party, then stopped on the highway and told his girlfriend to get out of the car.
"I said, 'Are you serious?'" Wycoff told the Chron. "Then I saw all my family and friends with cameras and I looked where Vidal was and he was down on one knee."
Why the highway, you ask? Apparently it holds sentimental value -- Navas took his girlfriend on a motorcycle ride one of their first dates.
The happy couple posted the following picture online, which was then picked up by an Imgur user. As you can tell from the caption and crazy honking in the video, not everyone was feeling the love.
"Love makes you do stupid things and I wanted to do something big for my girl," Navas told Houston station KTRK. "Something that she will always remember."
Apparently police weren't thrilled about the stunt either. Though they originally told the Chronicle they would not be issuing charges, Buzzfeed reports they slapped Navas with blocking a road way, a Class B misdimenor. Navas turned himself in, according to Daily News, which posted his glowing mug shot.
