Contrary to popular belief, Fort Worth is not part of Dallas.
Residents in the endearingly named Cowtown or Funkytown are adamant about this. Their sense of pride stems from having to inform people that there's a lot of land in between Big D and North Texas' other big city. (Including Arlington, which many at the 50th Academy of Country Music Awards also forgot is not Dallas.)
But, hey, at least one publication knows the difference -- BuzzFeed recently listed Fort Worth among the 34 most underrated cities in the U.S. BuzzFeed polled its community members to create the list.
Among the Fort Worth's selling points listed by user Makay are the West 7th District, the Stockyards, and Billy Bob's, one of the region's best country music bars. They also say Fort Worth is a big city with a small town feel, and that we cannot argue with. The city's stereotype is cowboy central, but there's also plenty to do in Fort Worth aside from kick up dust at a honky tonk.
Other cities on the list include San Diego, which everyone knows is freaking awesome; Detroit, though they fail to list that traffic is likely nonexistent since the Great Recession exodus; and Houston, which, I mean, whatever.
