Enemy Territory: Quake Wars

BFor Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 (Xbox 360 version tested). Rated for ages 13 and up. $59

TEAMWORK: For a shooting game focused on online multiplayer, Enemy Territory: Quake Wars works surprisingly well as an offline, single-player game. Each level is a single battle in which you have to not just shoot as many enemies as possible but also complete specific objectives, such as setting up a radar tower, blowing up a generator, seizing enemy forts and so forth.

MEDIC!: You don't just want a bunch of gunners on your team, though. A mix of infantry, engineers, special forces and, above all, medics is critical. When you die, you can call for a medic to revive you instantly. Otherwise, you have to wait several seconds to be respawned.

A LITTLE HELP FROM MY FRIENDS: When you're playing only with computer-controlled teammates, the computer invariably answers your cries for help. Play online with random human players, though, and you'll be lucky to get noticed when you fall. If you're playing against even a moderately disciplined team that knows how to deploy its medics, you'll be wiped out.

BOTTOM LINE: Quake Wars on the 360, made by Richardson- based Nerve Software, is a solid team-based game that's fast-paced, fun and, with decent teammates, more strategic than your average shooter.
