'Idol': Jason Castro stays, Carly Smithson goes

09:07 AM CDT on Thursday, April 24, 2008

From Staff reports

As the American Idol results were revealed Wednesday night, Ryan Seacrest reminded Jason Castro of Rockwall that his performance had been deemed "a train wreck." Jason simply smiled, then did the universal "choo-choo" move with his arm. The crowd laughed in approval. In the end, Jason's much-discussed charm (and talent) kept him out of the bottom spot, where Carly Smithson landed. But she took the news quite well. "I'm not upset I'm going home," she said, beaming. "I'm very happy."
