Owen Wilson in 'good condition'

08:40 AM CDT on Tuesday, August 28, 2007

From staff and wire reports

Owen Wilson was reported in good condition Monday after being taken to a hospital by paramedics this weekend, authorities said.

He "is here in good condition," said Cynthia Harding, a spokeswoman for Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles. Mr. Wilson had initially been taken to St. John's Health Center in Santa Monica.

"I respectfully ask that the media allow me to receive care and heal in private during this difficult time," the Dallas-raised actor said in a statement released through publicist Ina Treciokas.

No further comments were expected, she said. When reached by a Dallas Morning News reporter Monday afternoon, Robert A. Wilson, the actor's father, declined to comment.

It wasn't known why the 38-year-old actor was hospitalized, but a neighbor said a police car, firetruck and ambulance were outside Mr. Wilson's gated house around noon Sunday.

"These guys were kind of taking their time taking a stretcher out of the ambulance, then they went into the house," said neighbor Geoffry White, 61, who lives directly across the street.

Santa Monica Fire Battalion Chief Jose Torres said Monday that the department responded to a call that involved Mr. Wilson. The chief wouldn't comment on his injuries or condition, citing federal privacy laws.

Mr. Wilson's screen credits include Wedding Crashers and You, Me and Dupree. He was nominated for a screenwriting Oscar for 2001's The Royal Tenenbaums.
