Foxx after-party all about family04:53 PM CDT on Monday, March 12, 2007
Getty Images Jamie Foxx's mom (right) and other relatives showed up for his party at Dallas' Club Che. Jamie Foxx rolled up to his official after-party at Dallas' Club Che on Saturday just after midnight, walking in through the back entrance with his mother on his arm. She wore a red dress and sunglasses; he, a black T-shirt, diamond earrings and a bandanna tied loosely around his neck. "This is my mom," Mr. Foxx, a Terrell native, proudly announced, as flashbulbs popped. The Club Che event – which followed Mr. Foxx's sold-out show at Nokia Theatre – was not cheap, as after-parties go. Prices topped $50 to $150 for a single ticket. Valet was $30. But young, stylish urbanites turned out in droves, including Dallas Cowboy Terence Newman, New England Patriot Ellis Hobbs (who went to high school in DeSoto) and several members of Mr. Foxx's family. "You know how sometimes they say when you leave your hometown, your hometown don't support you?" Mr. Foxx said just after he arrived. "My hometown supports me. Dallas, South Dallas, Oak Cliff, Terrell, Texas, everywhere. It's incredible." Dallas was the 11th stop on Mr. Foxx's "Unpredictable Tour," which kicked off on Valentine's Day. Mr. Foxx said he enjoyed being able to see his family in the audience. "Looking out there and just seeing my mother out there, my father, it's fabulous," he said. The Oscar-winning actor spent most of the evening partying in the VIP area adjacent to the dance floor. He threw his arms up to the beat of Dirty South hip-hop songs and posed for pictures with pretty women in short skirts. Just before 2 a.m., he came out and joined the rest of the crowd on the main floor, dancing in a circle with his family members, including his mom and sister.
