Southwestern Exposition and Livestock Show in Fort Worth12:00 AM CST on Friday, January 12, 2007SPOTLIGHTScoot your boots over to the Southwestern Exposition and Livestock Show, which is set to open today and run through Feb. 4. The Texas-size agricultural extravaganza draws farmers, ranchers and cattlemen from all over the country, along with an estimated 22,000 head of livestock. Check out the latest in farm and ranch equipment, Western wear, saddles and tack. Also, rabbits, pigeons, swine, poultry, llamas, sheepdogs and goats will put their best paws, hooves or wings forward for judging (see the Web site for a schedule of contests). Rodeo sports at the Will Rogers Coliseum will also be part of the package. Catch the "Best of the West" Invitational Ranch Rodeo tonight and Saturday at 7:30 p.m. Performances of Mexican folklorico dance and mariachi music will complement the rodeo action in the "Best of Mexico Celebración," which will include roping and bull riding Sunday at 7:30 p.m. and Monday at 2 p.m. Sports sanctioned by the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association will take the spotlight daily from Jan. 19 through Feb. 4. Bull riding will be featured in the "Bull's Night Out" PRCA Extreme Bull Riding competition Tuesday and Wednesday at 7:30. Thrill seekers can check out the carnival midway (weather permitting).
