King Tut events let kids play like an Egyptian

Looking for family-friendly activities at the Tut exhibit? The DMA has lots of cool stuff planned. All programs are free with paid general admission to the museum or the King Tut exhibition.

Oct. 4-5: The opening-weekend celebration includes performances, tours of the collection, lectures and family activities. Each day from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Saturdays and Sundays through Oct. 26: Create your own canopic jar, like the ones Egyptians used to store mummified organs, using air-dry clay. Decorate it with hieroglyphic stamps and stencils. 1 to 3:30 p.m.
• Screenings of Reading Rainbow: Mummies Made in Egypt, narrated by LeVar Burton. 2 p.m

Saturday, Nov. 1: Egyptian Family Celebration features chances to learn about the art and culture of ancient Egypt through art-making activities, storytelling and artist demonstrations. 11 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Saturdays and Sundays, Dec. 6-21: Draw a scene narrated with hieroglyphics for a holiday card and print it on papyrus. 1 to 3:30 p.m.
