High-profile Coast Global Seafood to open next month in Plano

Things never seem to slow down at the Shops at Legacy. The rapidly expanding north section of the Plano retail and restaurant complex will get another high-profile dining destination next month when Coast Global Seafood opens on Nov. 7. The upscale spot, a sibling to nearby Nicola's, will feature an "energetic, hip vibe," says David Wood, senior vice president of sales and marketing for parent company Culinaire, with live music and a resortlike patio overlooking the plaza's Bellagio-style dancing water fountain.

"The food is not going to be very complicated," says Mr. Wood. "Lots of jet-fresh fish prepared simply with a minimum of sauces." Among the menu highlights: a build-your-own raw seafood tower.

Heading the kitchen is Sascia Marchesi, one of the opening chefs at Nicola's, who subsequently left Texas to return to Donatoni's Italian restaurant in Hawaii's Hilton Waikoloa Village. The native Italian will focus on Coast for about the next six months before opening a second location of Nicola's next spring at the Preston Commons complex at Northwest Highway and Preston Road.

Pyramid power

Now that Dallas is going crazy for King Tut, what better time to visit the newly renovated Pyramid Restaurant and Bar? In addition to its new contemporary look, the restaurant in the Fairmont Dallas hotel has also unveiled a new menu created by executive chef J.W. Foster that focuses on fresh, local ingredients, including herbs and vegetables grown in the hotel's own garden and house-made sausages, pickles, mustards and ice creams.

Work it out

The Boardroom has opened in Victory Park with more than 20 high-definition plasma TVs, personal sound systems at every seat and a menu boasting such whimsical fare as corn dog surf and turf, the Happy Thanksgiving sandwich and rum- and Coca-Cola-glazed ribs. The upscale sports bar is part of the Dolce Group, the well-known LA-based hospitality company responsible for such Hollywood hot spots as Geisha House and Les Deux.

Surf and turf

Downtown's Dallas Fish Market has a new lead sushi chef. Shige Tateno, formerly with SushiSamba and Tom Tom, has rolled out a new specialty sushi menu with offerings that include the Canary Diamond (kampachi, plum wine gelée, truffle oil and yuzu) and the Double Shot Shooter (oyster, uni, sake, tobiko and chives).

Dallas Fish Market's owner, Mike Hoque, has also announced plans to open a new high-end steakhouse, Dallas Chop House, in the Comerica Bank Tower on Main Street. It is scheduled to open next summer.

Product 19

The revamped 19 Bar at Irving's Four Seasons Resort and Club opened last month off the hotel lobby. The chic space offers five flat-screen TVs, a billiard table and a cigar patio, along with an array of specialty cocktails and a food menu that includes braised short rib sliders and mini beef Wellington. Through the end of the year, the bar will feature '80s music on Friday nights, when women patrons each will receive a complimentary drink between 8 and 9 p.m.

Comings and goings

•  Go Fish Ocean Club has reopened in Far North Dallas. The seafood restaurant, previously located in Addison under the name Go Fish, also has a new menu created by executive chef Tiffany Derry.
•  Scotty Pontikes and his brothers have opened their sixth branch of Scotty P's Hamburgers, their first located within the Dallas city limits. They will return to the 'burbs next year when their seventh store opens on Eldorado Parkway in Frisco.
• Downtown Dallas now has a branch of Cindi's New York Delicatessen, Restaurant and Bakery. The new location, the company's fifth, is open weekdays for breakfast and lunch on the western edge of downtown, near Union Station.
•  The Original Fried Pie Place is now open in Richardson. The small storefront lives up to its name, serving breakfast pies filled with bacon, egg and cheese and savory pies stuffed with chicken, beef and vegetables, as well as the familiar fruit-filled dessert pies.
•  Five Guys Burgers and Fries has opened a second area location in Southlake Town Square.
•  Urban Taco founder Markus Pineyro will open a second location of his upscale taqueria concept next spring in the Uptown district. The new two-story offshoot will feature a rooftop lounge and a patio, in addition to an expanded menu going beyond Mexico City street food to dishes from the coastal area of Acapulco.
• Prego Pasta House has closed its Far North Dallas location at Trinity Mills and the Dallas North Tollway.
• The Meridian Room in Exposition Park has closed. The 7-year-old restaurant and bar was a sibling to Lower Greenville's Libertine Bar, which remains open.
