Summer classical concerts scheduled in Dallas

The Dallas Symphony Orchestra has announced its Casual Classics and other summer concerts at the Meyerson Symphony Center.

Casual Classics, all led by assistant conductor Danail Rachev, start at 7:30 p.m.:

• June 6: All-Mozart, with Kara Kirkendoll Welch, flute.

• June 14: Tchaikovsky 1812 Overture, other orchestral pieces by Schubert, Mendelssohn, Josef Strauss, Dvorák, Mascagni, Enescu.

• June 21: Mendelssohn Italian Symphony, pieces by Brahms, Rimsky-Korsakov, Sibelius, with Greater Dallas Youth Orchestra.

• June 28: Weber, Mendelssohn, Shostakovich, with Emanuel Borok, violin.

Dallas Symphony Presents:

• July 1-3, 7:30 p.m.: Blue Planet Live!, with big-screen projections from the BBC/Discovery Channel series, with conductor-composer George Fenton.

• July 13, 7:30 p.m.: Kidz Bop Live.

• Aug. 31, Sept. 1, 8 p.m.: The Gipsy Kings.

• Sept. 4, 8 p.m.: Huey Lewis & The News.
