Tony Romo, Jessica Simpson dazzle Easter brunchers

It was that Thanksgiving meal with her family that confirmed that singer Jessica Simpson and quarterback Tony Romo were serious about each other.

On Easter, they were together again, this time with Jessica's sister, Ashlee Simpson. The Romo-Simpson party had a table of eight at the Easter brunch in the Crystal Ballroom at the Intercontinental Hotel in Addison.

Many of the 1,500 brunch guests made extra trips to the dessert table as an excuse to get a look at Tony and the Simpson sisters.

Jerry Hall's gallery night

Before walking the red carpet at Thursday's opening gala for the AFI Dallas International Film Festival, supermodel Jerry Hall should be dropping by the Kristy Stubbs Gallery for a reception for two of her favorite artists: her niece, SMU grad Elaine Ferguson, and her 16-year-old daughter, Georgia Jagger.

"Georgia has done a beautiful painting for the show," says Ms. Stubbs. Jerry supplied some vintage photos that will also be shown in the Stubbs Gallery show "London Calling: Elaine Ferguson and Friends."

Icy reception

Friday night, Mike Modano was at Dr Pepper StarsCenter in Frisco to drop the ceremonial puck at the fourth annual Pros vs. Prospects Charity Classic.

Retired hockey stars such as Pat Verbeek, Brett Hull, Craig Ludwig, Benoit Hogue, Luc Robitaille, Neal Broten, Greg Adams, Mark Lamb, Nelson Emerson, Bob Bassen, Jim Johnson, Kelly Chase and Steve Duchesne played Junior A hockey's Texas Tornado.

The old guys won, 13-7.

Engaged encounter

The Pros vs. Prospects was just part of a banner weekend for Texas Tornado's 29-year-old owner Kirby Schlegel, who also owns the Iowa Stars, the Dallas Stars' AAA affiliate.

Saturday night, Kirby and his girlfriend, Lauren Bedford, celebrated their engagement with family and friends.

Among those in a celebratory mood was Kirby's dad, Bob Schlegel. Earlier this month, he inked a deal to sell the concrete landscape manufacturing unit of his company Pavestone for $540 million.

Ka-ching!

'Stuck' on the screen

Add Irish actor Stephen Rea (The Crying Game, The End of the Affair) to the list of big names coming in for the AFI Dallas International Film Festival. He'll attend Saturday's screening of his appropriately named film Stuck at the AMC NorthPark.

Remember back in 2001 when Fort Worth nurse's aid Chante Mallard hit a homeless man with her car, he got stuck in the windshield, and she left him in her garage until he died? (She got 50 years for murder.)

That's the premise of Stuck, which bears about as much resemblance to real events as Springtime for Hitler does to Schindler's List.

But this is the silver screen, so some liberties are allowed. In the film, Mr. Rea lives and Ms. Mallard's character is played by Mena Suvari, the rose-petal nymphet from American Beauty.
