Garden "charcuterie" with marinated olives and creole mustard from the restaurant Wayward Sons

Chef-owner Graham Dodds knocks it out of the park with dishes like chicken and dumplings and lamb brisket at his modern Texas restaurant across from the Granada Theater. His vegetarian dishes, like an unusual garden “charcuterie” board, beet chili and parsley-root gnocchi, are original and worth a visit on their own merits. Dishes miss more than they should, and there are service kinks to work out, but the place is fun and laid-back, the cocktails and wine list are delightful and Dodds is one of the most inventive and interesting chefs in Dallas — in other words, it has a whole lot going for it. Dinner and weekend brunch. Full bar. Leslie Brenner/Guide
