Unless you live nearby, getting burgers at Wingfield’s requires some forethought. The wait can be long, and there’s no place to sit and eat your burger on the premises. The best strategy: Call in your order ahead. Be prepared to announce whether you want mayo or mustard. The counter person will give you an order number and tell you when it’ll be ready. Race over to Wingfield’s and claim your prize. Take the drippy bag back home or to the office, or better yet, to the closest convenient place you can think of — maybe a park. I don’t use the word awesome much, but these burgers ($4.95) are truly awesome. They’re mammoth. They’re meaty. The meat is good. They’re well-seasoned, and monumentally messy, adorned with lots of pickles and chopped raw onions. Add cheese and bacon for the ultimate Wingfield’s indulgence. Wingfield’s is a Dallas treasure.Leslie Brenner/Guide
