Bernard Tronche’s cozy spot on the edge of Fort Worth’s Cultural District, opened in 1985, charmingly evokes an auberge in the French countryside. Well-made renditions of simple French classics fill the menu — a good rustic duck pâté, garlicky escargots topped with puff pastry caps, Dover sole meunière, steak au poivre with a mountain of frites. One of the best dishes — honey-glazed duck roasted in a wood oven — has been on the menu from the start. The cheese plate disappoints, but there are a couple of reliably good desserts: tarte Tatin, flambéd tableside, and floating island. Consider booking on the early side: The kitchen tends to run out of dishes. Dinner only; closed Sunday-Monday. Full bar. Leslie Brenner/Guide
