Despite its Best in DFW status, recent visits to the scene steakhouse have disappointed. The bar scene is insane on a weekend night, and a table reserved doesn’t necessarily mean there won’t be a long wait; weeknights can be saner. The steaks, especially the “long bone” cowboy ribeye, the bone-in filet and the Kansas City strip, frequently offered as a special, can be very good, if wildly expensive. Best to stick to the simplest starters and sides — oysters on the half-shell, Caesar salad, shrimp cocktail, sautéed spinach. When ordering specials, be sure the server is clear about the price, or you might be in for a nasty surprise. — Leslie Brenner/Guide
